Flat braided elastic is widely used in the garment and sewing industry, particularly where the elastic is inserted into a fabric casing.  The 6mm width is one of the most commonly used sizes for lightweight to medium-weight garments because it is thin, flexible and provides good stretch and recovery.

What To Avoid – Using braided elastic when it will be sewn directly onto the fabric.  Braided elastic narrows when stretched, making it less suitable for direct stitching.  In such applications, knitted or woven elastic is usually the better choice.
